There are 5 competitive categories available to win at Kingston's Chilifest:

1. Tex Mex: chili meat cut large, not ground, no beans, hot & spicy
2. Family Style: with Beans, mild to semi-hot
3. Vegetarian: vegetables only, no rules on mild to hot or spicy
4. Original: No rules
5. Ethnic: No rules
