Hospice Kingston, is focused on volunteer programs, fundraising, and advocacy on behalf of palliative care patients and their caregivers in Southeastern Ontario. It works closely with a network of almost a dozen organizations involved in managing and providing clinical care, both in the home and in institutional settings, in Southeastern Ontario.
Hospice Kingston volunteers come to the homes of patients to provide support and relief, both to the patients and also to the family members that care for them. As a complement to the clinical expertise of doctors and nurses, volunteers help patients and caregivers with their everyday responsibilities, giving them time for a better quality of life. They also help clients come to terms with the last phase of life, providing emotional and spiritual support beyond what is provided by the medical system.
